Save for a sharp "spike" in flows over Memorial Day Weekend, she's been pretty stable, if not a bit on the high side.?? Presently closer to 4000cfs than 5000, as long as it stays that way, fishing should be good.??

Be prepared with an assortment of Caddis pupa, emergers and adults to match the event of the hour, especially late afternoon ???til dusk.?? Early in the afternoon, PMD's will provide variable matching opportunity day-in and day-out into August.?? If caught in a "dead spell", don't hesitate to offer a smaller nymph behind a big stone dry, or nymph ??? it is Salmonfly/Golden time, after all (followed by Short-Winged Summers and Yellow Sallies!).

Further food for thought:?? now that the river has found the bushes, keep in mind that beetles and ants don't wait around for the hoppers to show up ??? they're busy already.?? If caught during a "lull", consider offering a "formic acid goody" (ants and beetles are rich with this sweet chemical) to tempt some of the "weaker" fish tight to the bank.

Salmonfly adults have moved upstream of Maupin, while Goldens are appearing in solid numbers.?? Big Golden adults should provide heady, reliable action over the next week or two.?? Caddis and PED's are well-established events that could divert the trout's focus away from the big bugs when available, with a few PMD's and the promise of Green Drakes also upon us.?? Have fun!
