Heavy rains on top of fires in the Big Wood River drainage have resulted in significant black and muddy runoff. Oxygen and water temperatures do not appear to be lethal at this time; however, prolonged runoff like current condition will likely cause gill abrasions and/or gill blockages which may be a significant problem. Regardless, the Big Wood River and tributaries on the west side of the drainage are not fishing well and we'd recommend anglers consider fishing elsewhere until conditions improve.
