The billfish bite continues for the anglers and all boats are having 1-2 opportunities for a billfish on every trip. High boat for the week was the "Aries I", skippered by Captain Jose Villa, with 8 stripers, (4 releases) for 4 days fished. The overall catches for a total of 15 offshore fishing days reflected 20 stripers, (6 releases) for their efforts. The inshore super pangas, reporting in for 8 days fished, reflected 1 grouper, 15 red snappers, 32 triggerfish and 29 rock perch. Overall, the fishing continues to provide fantastic action for the anglers through a period that is normally considered the off-season for the area. The incredible fishing season continues and the water temps continue to get better & better with each passing week.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny and warm days with a few passing clouds and temps that ranged from 62 nights to 89 daytime highs. Terrific weather throughout the area.
Sea Conditions: Excellent! Temps ranging from 78 inshore to 79 offshore with light surface breezes flowing mostly from the westerly directions from flat calm mornings to about 15 mph in the afternoons.
Best Fishing Area: Remains in the southerly directions from the Marina El Cid and starting at about 15 miles. Water clarity begins at about 10-12 miles from the shoreline.
Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits continue to perform very well for the anglers with a few fish being taken on the artificials, too.
Bait supply: Good bait supply with plenty of live bait and fresh baits for rigging/trolling.
