About 37% of the boats scored on a billfish this past week from Puerto Morelos and rounded out their catches with a variety of other fish as the overall catch report reflected mostly surface action for this period. The overall catch report reflected 40 days fished that resulted in 4 white marlin, 11 sailfish, 4 wahoo, 31 bonito, 12 dorado, 15 blackfin tuna, 4 giant barracuda, along with 17 snapper and 3 grouper for the bottom fish catches. Overall, it was a pretty good fishing week that provided better weather conditions that left the boats and the anglers alone for the week. Separately, a couple weeks ago, I reported a catch of "chak-chi" fish in the catch report and finally found out that the fish is a smaller bottom fish, more commonly called a "blackfish" and compares somewhat to a snapper but is better eating. That's saying a lot since snapper are a premium eating fish.

PM Climate: Mostly cloudy or partly cloudy days with a chance for n occasional shower. Temps ranged from 75 nights to 85 daytime highs.

Best Bait: The bait of choice continues to be the freshly caught ballyhoo that is provided to all of the sportfishers on a daily basis in a variety of sizes.
