Just as I thought. Once the full moon phase slid by the billfish would come back to bite and offer some great action for the anglers. The overall high billfish boat for the past week was captured by "Gaviota VIII" reflecting 10 striped marlin, (9 releases) and 7 dorado for 6 days fished. The overall fish counts for a combined total of 23 days fished reflected 29 stripers, (26 released) 7 Sierra, 1 toro and 41 dorado. There was much more action with strikes and short-biters that kept the anglers fairly busy and eager to grab a rod. The overall weather slumped on wednesday with a drizzly day and heavy overcast for the day.

Cabo Climate: A mostly cloudy week with drizzle on Wednesday. Temperatures ranged from 62 nighttime lows to 80 daytime highs and a 67% humidity level.

Sea Conditions: There were varied surface breezes mostly from the easterly directions that ranged from near calm to about 10 mph. Sea temps from the Golden Gate Bank and inward toward shore at 75-75. Outside the Golden Gate and southerly down across the Jaime Bank and beyond to the 1000 fathom curve, tmps climbed to 77-78. There was a block of cooler water right off Cabo Falso at 73. Cabo to Gorda Banks all at 74-75. Los Frailes and above and 9into the Sea of Cortez is cool at 70-71 degrees.

Best Fishing Area: Continued to be on the Pacific side of the peninsula and was spread from the Herradura to Cabo Falso and up the coast at Pozo de Cota.

Best Bait/Lures: Good bite on both, artificials and live baits, plus rigged baits, too. According to the skippers, it seemed like there was something following the lures and rigged baits all day long.

Bait Supply: Excellent bait supply of caballitos at the $3.00 per bait rate. (Note: Save the dead baits for slow trolling rigged baits from the outriggers, which has been working unusually well).
