The Aries Sportfishing Fleet, operating from the Marina El Cid, Pacific, has provided another outstanding catch report that has reflected one billfish per boat day fished. The only slow-down for the past week was the number of charters for the offshore and inshore fishing areas. According to our on-location reporter, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, the offshore sportfishers reported landing a total of 7 striped marlin, (3 released) and 2 sailfish, (1 released) for a total of 9 days fished. The one single day inshore super-panga day reflected limits of sea bass, limits of triggerfish and 15 snapper.

Mazatlan Climate: It was a sunny/cloudy early week that changed into a sunny & warm weekend with temps that ranged rom 58 nights to 85 daytime highs and included a 45% humidity level.. It was cool enough in the mornings to wear a light jacket.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps were stable for the week and ranged from 80-81 degrees from inshore to offshore. Surface breezes were flowing from the westerly directions from near calm to 12 mph, all very fishable conditions.

Best Fishing Area: There was no specific location provided as the few boats that fished were out to the southwest of the Marina with fish being caught throughout the area from about 15 miles from the Marina El Cid.

Best Bait/Lure: The sailfish liked the rigged baits best and the stripers were taken on both, rigged baits and artificials.

Bait Supply: Good bait supply that included fresh baits for rigging and live bait at $1.00 per bait.
