When you fish a long time you have good days and days that you struggle, no matter how good of a fisherman you may be. Well today was my day "in the barrel" as they say. I had five people on board for a rock cod trip and i struggled mightily to find them fish. There was a stiff south wind blowing which was making it difficult to fish the first spot we went to. We then made a pretty long run to a spot on the inside that has been pretty productive in the past, but although the weather was much nicer, the fish just weren't there. I then made another move were we were able to find some fish and finish out our day. As captain its one of the worst feelings seeing the long faces of clients who aren't catching, but they were troopers and showed great patience. At the end of a long day we were able to grind out near limits with 21ling cod, 48 rockfish, and 50 crabs. So at least everyone went home with coolers full of tasty fillets.

It was a fun group of people and we got to share lots of laughter, which always makes...... Read More
