Its unique volcanic setting and stunning scenery enhance the angling experience.

Fishing conditions are consistently excellent for its coldwater species, with early summer water temperatures around 65°F. Paulina Lake is open year-round, though road access typically opens in mid-May. Trolling is highly effective for all species, utilizing various lures and dodgers, often with downriggers for kokanee. Fly fishing is popular, with buggers, leeches, and chironomids working well, and dry fly opportunities for ants and beetles in the afternoons.

Conservation efforts prioritize maintaining healthy fish populations through stocking. Anglers must strictly adhere to all Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW) regulations, including specific bag limits and proper fish handling, to preserve this exceptional and scenic angling destination.
