Cluff Ranch Ponds, located near Pima, AZ, are part of the Cluff Ranch Wildlife Area and feature a well-maintained warmwater and seasonal trout fishery. The main body of water, known as Pond 3, is roughly 20 acres and supports largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, crappie, and winter-stocked rainbow trout.
Bass fishing is strong in spring and early summer, with anglers targeting reed beds and submerged cover using soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Catfish are stocked regularly and respond well to nightcrawlers, chicken liver, and commercial stink baits, especially in the evenings.
Bluegill and crappie offer consistent action during warmer months and are best caught on worms, small jigs, and micro-grubs. These species are especially attractive for families and beginner anglers. From November through March, the pond is stocked with rainbow trout, which are commonly caught near the dock using bait and small inline spinners.
Electric motors are allowed, and shore access is excellent. Facilities include restrooms, picnic tables, and gravel parking. While camping is not permitted within the wildlife area, dispersed camping is available nearby on public lands.
The scenic backdrop of the Pinaleno Mountains and the easy-access shoreline make Cluff Ranch Ponds an ideal multi-species destination for anglers in southeastern Arizona. Whether fly fishing, bait casting, or bringing kids along for a day on the water, this pond system offers both variety and solitude.
