Kinnikinick Lake - Flagstaff, AZ

Lake Information

Fish Species: Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Bullhead
Kinnikinick Lake is a remote 126-acre reservoir in the Coconino National Forest southeast of Flagstaff, AZ. At 7,000 feet elevation, this off-grid lake is stocked with rainbow trout and holds self-sustaining populations of brown trout, along with some channel catfish.

Stocking occurs in spring and early summer. Anglers target rainbows with PowerBait, worms, and salmon eggs. Brown trout are caught using spinners, crankbaits, and streamers fished near structure and deeper water. Fly anglers employ leeches, buggers, and nymphs, especially near drop-offs and inlets.

The lake allows non-motorized and electric-powered boats, though there is no developed boat launch. Access requires a 7-mile drive over rough gravel roads. No facilities are available on-site, and the area is suited for primitive camping and self-supported outings.

Kinnikinick’s combination of wild trout potential, low angling pressure, and backcountry setting makes it one of the most appealing destinations for advanced anglers and solitude-seekers in Northern Arizona.
