Patagonia Lake - Patagonia, AZ

Lake Information

Fish Species: Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill, White Crappie
Patagonia Lake is a premier 265-acre reservoir in southern Arizona’s Patagonia Lake State Park. Located near Nogales at 3,800 feet elevation, the lake is stocked seasonally with rainbow trout and supports year-round fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish. Trout fishing is best from late fall through early spring using bait or small lures from shore or boat.

Bass are most active in spring and fall, with anglers targeting them around brush and rock structure using plastics and topwaters. Crappie concentrate near the marina and submerged cover, particularly in cooler months. Summer night fishing for catfish using cut bait or stink bait is highly effective.

The lake features two boat ramps, rental boats, a marina, and a full-service campground with cabins and RV hookups. Several fishing piers and shoreline access points provide great options for bank anglers. Kayaks and motorboats are allowed, and the lake’s no-wake zones ensure a peaceful experience.

Patagonia Lake is popular with birdwatchers and campers, offering excellent recreational amenities. A daily state park fee is required, and anglers must carry a valid Arizona fishing license. Standard bag limits apply.

With its combination of amenities, accessibility, and reliable multi-species fishing, Patagonia Lake remains one of Arizona’s most complete freshwater fishing destinations.
