Dons Lake - La Sal, Utah

Lake Information

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout
Dons Lake near La Sal Mountain is a serene 16-acre alpine pond at about 8,500 feet. It offers rainbow and brook trout fishing in a peaceful mountain setting.

Rainbows 10–14 inches and brookies 8–12 inches are common. Anglers use PowerBait, worms, or salmon eggs, and fly enthusiasts cast small dries or nymphs near inflows.

A gravel forest road provides seasonal access for float tubes and non-gas boats. Shore fishing is convenient, though float tubes reach more productive water.

Primitive camping and a picnic shelter provide basic facilities. No gas motors are allowed, preserving a quiet fishing experience.

Mountain weather can shift rapidly; anglers should plan for storms and cool evenings.

Ideal for calm alpine days, Dons Lake supplies a hands‑on trout fishing experience in a scenic, accessible mountain pond.
