Sylvia Lake - WA

Lake Information

Fish Species: Cutthroat Trout, Steelhead, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch
Sylvia Lake, nestled in the forests of southern Washington near Randle, is a small alpine lake offering peaceful trout fishing in a quiet, scenic setting. At just under 20 acres and over 3,300 feet in elevation, it provides a coolwater fishery perfect for late spring through early fall fishing.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks the lake regularly with rainbow and brook trout, and occasionally with cutthroat. These fish range from 10 to 14 inches and respond well to spinners, small spoons, and flies. Fly anglers will find productive water near the inlet and shallows, particularly with leech and terrestrial patterns.

Motorized boats aren’t permitted, which helps maintain the lake’s tranquil atmosphere. Float tubes and inflatable boats are popular options, and a nearby primitive campground provides rustic accommodations. Sylvia Lake is hike-in accessible, limiting crowds and offering a remote feel without a lengthy trek.

Its high-elevation environment and cold, clear water make Sylvia Lake a reliable destination for trout anglers who prefer solitude and steady action over trophy potential. It’s especially attractive to fly fishers, backpackers, and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the nearby Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This is a true mountain trout lake—simple, rewarding, and refreshingly off the beaten path.
