The hot bite continued this week at Dixon Lake with lots of nice sized Tail Walker trout from Nebraska's Chalk Mound Trout Ranch coming in. The largest of the week was a 12 lb. 8 oz. beauty landed by C. Vartan, pictured above of Grenada Hills. Mr. Vartan hooked this monster on a Thomas Bouyant lure in Trout Cove.

With 1500 lb. plants of Tail Walkers scheduled for both the 19th and the 27th , the fun should continue strong through the holiday season, though Dixon Lake will be closed on Christmas Day.

Best baits continue to be power worm/power bait combos, night crawlers, power worms, power baits. The best lures have been mini-jigs, Kastmasters, Rooster Tails and Thomas Buoyants. The best results have come from using light line in the 2-4 lb. test line. Cool water conditions continue to keep the trout close to shore. The hot spots are the Trout Cove, Boat Dock Cove and Jack Creek Cove. Whisker Bay has been hot in the days immediately following a stock.

All anglers 8 yrs. and older will still need a daily fishing lake permit. All other park rules, fishing regulations and City of Escondido municipal codes will remain in effect.
