The striper action off Mazatlan continues to provide the best March billfish action we have ever reported since having the privilege to represent The Aries Sportfishing Fleet. This past week reflected more than a two billfish per boat average for the fleet for a 21 day fishing effort with "Aries III" again high billfish boat, reporting for 5 days fished with 10 stripers and 1 sailfish, (6 stripers released) and followed by the "Aries II", reporting in for 5 days fished with 10 stripers, (4 releases). The overall fish counts for a total of 21 offshore fishing days reflected 47 stripers, (22 releases) 1 sailfish and 14 dorado. The inshore super pangas got in on the striper action, too, reporting in for 12 days fished that included 10 stripers, (2 releases) 4 dorado and 20 rock perch. All-in-all, it's been an incredible week's fishing action for the entire fleet and even better, as long as the sea temps continue to hold up, the bite is likely to continue.

Mazatlan Climate: It's been a sensational week's weather with sunny & warm days, clear days, with temps that ranged from 57 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Excellent water temps ranging from 75-76 inshore and rising to 77-78 offshore with the change at 15-16 miles and very good clarity. Surface breezes flowed mostly from the westerly directions with the bulk of the week at about 10 mph with a single day up to 15 mph. Best Fishing Area: Started at the temperature break at about 16 miles or so and the boats branched outbound from there.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits worked best for both, the billfish and the dorado, albeit, a few fish were taken on lures.

Bait Supply: Remained very good for the fresh rigging baits but lacked for live bait for a few days.
