For most of the week the inshore action was much better than the offshore action as the billfish were mostly uncooperative. Later in the week the sailfish started to bite at about 15 miles offshore and also provided a few marlin in the mix. Very few dorado for the past week. The inshore fishing was the best bet for some action, especially with the bigger jack crevalle, Sierras and bonitos. Overall, the past few weeks have been difficult fishing for the anglers and the crews throughout the area but finally, I think we are starting to see a turn in the bite and the conditions, especially for the offshore waters.

IZ Climate: Mostly sunny and warm days with a few passing clouds and temps that ranged from 70 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Surface breezes were mostly from the westerly directions to a maximum of 12 mph and the surface temps ranged from 78-79 inshore to 82-83 offshore. Very green water inshore but the fish seemed to want to bite anyway. Offshore at about 15 miles, the water cleaned up to a deep blue and the billfish started to bite again.

Best Fishing Area; Most of the boats were fishing the inshore areas for the Jacks, Sierra and bonitos but as the week progressed, the offshore fishing rebounded for the billfish, both sails and marlin, and the boats took advantage of the new bite.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits were working best for t he offshore waters but live baits were working well for the inshore fishing, especially for the big jacks and even for the bigger Sierras.

Bait Supply: Excellent supply of freshly caught baits for rigging and a good supply of live bait at the rate of $5.00 per dozen.
