The sailfish bite has started and moved into full swing. Even better, the first white marlin was landed the other day by a group fishing aboard the "Mojito". While the fishing has really developed over the past week or so, the weather popped up for a couple of days and closed the port to all traffic. Now that things have settled back to fair seas and calmer conditions, the boats will be back out chasing the billfish bite, along with all of the other varieties of mixed bag catches that are available at this time of year. The overall fish report for a total of 30 days fished reflected 1 white marlin, 15 sailfish, 39 bonito, 5 giant barracuda, 1 blackfin tuna, 1 amberjack, 1 Spanish mackerel, 39 snappers, 6 grouper, 35 banana fish, 39 triggerfish 17 cuchas, (reef fish) and a handful of miscellaneous for their efforts. All in all, an excellent 5-day fishing period for the boats.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy but warm, pleasant days with temps that varied from 65 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Port was closed for two days and then settled down to good fishing weather. Sea temps good at 81-82 degrees throughout the area. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the easterly directions to 17 mph in the afternoons.

Best Bait/Lure: The always wonderful ballyhoo baits continue to be the choice for the anglers and the crews and all of the various fish in this area thrive on the freshly caught ballyhoo baits.

Bait Supply: Continues to be plentiful in a variety of sizes.
