The full moon had taken it's toll this past week at Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo and according to Captain Temo Verboonen, the fish bit less and less through the full moon days. "We can see sailfish jumping all over, but they seemed to just ignore the baits". Good, quality-sized dorado are biting at about 15 miles offshore, just to the outside of the billfish area. Some of the boats were reporting two to 4 strikes per day and others were reporting none and it depended on just where you were. Seemed like just a few miles apart could make a substantial difference in the fishing. This week should improve considerably as the full moon phase changes into a darker mode. There's large schools of bait and the jack cravelle and pelicans are really active in front of Salidita. The close inshore bite was mostly needlefish and just a bit farther out the sierra bite was picking up on the Rapalas with 7-9 lb. fish.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days, but plenty of warm sunshine with temps ranging from 73 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Calm, temps from 82 inshore and rising to 83 offshore, with clean water at about 5 miles outside the bay.

Best Fishing Area: Starts at about 5 miles and continues outbound from there to about 15 miles.

Best Bait/Lure: Offshore, the fish were very fussy but for those that were successful, the rigged trolling baits were best.

Bait Supply: Bait is readily available.
