The billfish count is approaching the 50-50 mark for the boats fishing offshore and a few yellowfin tuna are now showing up in the counts. The inshore super panga fishing continues to be a wide variety of critters but the sierra have disappeared from the area for now. Overall offshore counts for 22 days fished reflected 10 stripers, 1 sailfish, 2 mako shark, 13 dorado and 26 yellowfin tuna, (30-45 lb. fish). The inshore reflected 10 yellowfin tuna, 20 pargo, 6 barracuds, 4 toro, 50 mojarres and 49 cochitos for 6 days fished.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny days with temps from 53 nights to 81 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Mostly calm with light surface breezes, little swell and temps at 76 degrees to about 20 miles and falling off to 74 outside the 20 miles mark.

Best Fishing Area: Offshore, it appears hat the boats fishing the outer edge of the water temp break fared best for the billfish, tuna and dorado.

Best Bait/Lure: Billfish taking the slow trolled rigged mullet. Tuna were running with the porpoise and though not overly eager, were biting best on the petrolero's.
