Southern California Edison had to complete some dam work at South Lake on Tuesday and to do so they needed to keep the water level steady while they worked. To do this they opened the outflow to max flow for the majority of the day Tuesday - so there was a LOT of water coming down the creek. DFG was reported to have stocked on Monday and when that water came rushing down on Tuesday, it apparently spread the fish out so folks looking to limit out in one or two pools were out of luck. Even when flows were set back to minimum on Tuesday afternoon/evening, anglers had to cover a lot of territory to find the fish. Luckily flows should be set to the near minimum for a while as SCE stores water in South Lake so Friday's Alper plant and this coming week's DFG stocking should prove easy to find and catch. Small pieces of nightcrawlers, red salmon eggs and gold Panther Martin lures were the most productive in the South Fork this week.

It was difficult to nail down the top producers this week because whether you were trolling lures, dunking bait or jigging plastics, just about everything was picking up fish....... Read More
