Trout season is here, with the first big stocking of beautiful Sierra Bows scheduled on October 24th. The second stocking of both Lightning Trout and Sierra Bows will be on October 31st. Even with trout fever spreading, anglers that continue to fish for catfish are still having a great run. Mike Rhodes of Anaheim landed 5 catfish totaling 19 pounds using fresh shrimp soaked in Eagle Claw gravy fishing from a boat in the middle of the lake. Rick Santos of Santa Ana caught a 12 pound catfish using a chuck of mackerel casting out far from the "The Road". Justine Chevalier & Alison Sharp of Brea caught 10 catfish totaling 24 pounds using shrimp from a boat in the middle of the lake. Santa Ana River Lakes is open seven-days-a-week and during trout season, 24 hour fishing will be on full moon weekends only.
