It has been another terrific fishing week from the Riviera Maya, (aka Puerto Morelos) on the west coast of the Caribbean. We are now in the peak month of the year for the sailfish and the white marlin and I wouldn't at all be surprised to see a blue marlin show up in the mixed bag catch of billfish. We suffered one red flag, (port closure day) this past week but the remainder of the week offered good fishing results that spanned a variety of 16 different species. The boats reported in for a total of 29 days fished that resulted in 3 white marlin, 8 sailfish, 3 giant barracuda, 10 bonito, 1 dorado, 1 Spanish mackerel, 3 wahoo, 1 needle fish, 2 blue runners, 5 sucker fish, 13 soap fish, 18 banana fish, 9 strawberry fish, 8 grouper, 46 triggerfish and 42 snappers. We think the billfish bite will progressively get better and better through the month of May and the boat crews are anxiously looking forward to the everyday fishing and customers. This is the really fun time of year that can often result in "bragging rights" for the anglers.

PM Climate: Mostly cloudy days with temps from 74 nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: One red flag day with the port closed due to windy conditions. Sea temps are holding stable at 83 degrees throughout the area. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the easterly direction at 11-14 mph.

Best Bait/Lure: The freshly provided ballyhoo baits continue to be the prime choice for the anglers and the crews and remains plentiful on a daily basis.
