Another great fishing report from Cabo San Lucas, by our on-the-spot reporter, Carlos Pena-Mireles, the dockside manager for the Gaviota Fleet and from Captain Roberto Marquez, owner of the Fish Cabo Fleet. There were a total of 36 days fished this past week and the better fish producing area was at the 1150 Fathom Spot, toward the Sea of Cortez side of Cabo. While a few billfish were taken in other locations, it seemed like the main billfish action was coming from the surrounding area by the 1150 Fathom Spot. High billfish boat for the week was the Tuna Time, reflecting 4 stripers released for 2 days fished and followed by the Fish Cabo, reflecting 3 stripers released for one day fished. The overall fish counts for the 36 days reflected an interesting variety that reflected 16 stripers, (11 released) 1 sailfish, 4 jack crevalle, 5 dorado, 1 mako shark, 3 wahoo, 2 yellowfin tuna, 6 skipjack and 13 Sierra.

Cabo Climate: It has been a mostly sunny, warm and clear week for Cabo San Lucas, with temps that varied from 64 nights o 86 daytime highs and a 45% humidity ratio. Overall, picture perfect weather for fishing.

Sea Conditions: The surface breezes are flowing in from the northwesterly directions and ranged from calm to about 18 mph. The Pacific side has cooler water and is bumpy, with sea temps at 73-74 degrees. Everything changes at Cabo Falso and the temps rise to about 75 degrees and the lump tapers off. Moving farther into the east and the Sea of Cortez the temps rise to 79-80 degrees from Cabo San Lucas to Los Frailes. The water conditions on the Sea of Cortez side are near perfect for fishing.

Best Fishing Area: The 1150 fathom spot became the "hot spot" this past week and the billfish are starting to stack-up in that location with most boats having several opportunities and more.

Best Bait/Lure: Live baits were working very well being fished deep with sinkers. Rigged baits and artificials were doing a great job, too, and there was plenty of action for the anglers.

Live Bait Supply: Remains very healthy with lots of quality caballitos ready to go at the $3.00 per bait rate.
