Our special reporter for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, said the fishing remains very good from Mazatlan but the offshore cruisers have been over-shooting the fishing area and the super pangas are producing a better catch rate for their angler during this past week. A very unusual fishing report when the super pangas have out fished the cruisers for the first time ever since I have been reporting catches for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet. This past week, we had 8 offshore fishing days that produced 2 stripers and 1 sailfish while the super pangas produced 2 stripers and 2 sailfish, (1 released) for the super pangas, for their 6 days fished. Looks to me like the better fishing is in that 15 mile mark or close to that area, out to the south of the Marina El Cid.

Mazatlan Climate: Air temps varied from 64 nights to 90 daytime highs and a 68% humidity level. It was mostly cloudy for the early week and changing to mostly sunny from Thursday through Sunday.

Sea Conditions: Water temps stable from inshore to offshore and varied from 80-81 degrees. Surface breezes flowing in from the westerly directions and varied from light in the mornings to about 12 mph in the afternoons.

Best Fishing Area: In the vicinity of the 15 mile mark, where the super pangas were focusing on the billfish.

Best Bait/Lure: The freshly rigged trolling baits continue to be the better baits for both, the cruisers and the super pangas.

Bait Supply: Excellent bait supply for both, live baits and freshly caught baits or rigging. Live bait is $1.00 per bait and rigging baits are provided gratis with the charters.
