Weber River - UT

River Information

Fish Species: Cutthroat Trout, Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Common Carp, Mountain Whitefish
The Weber River is a premier trout stream flowing across northern Utah from the Uintas through Ogden to the Great Salt Lake. It supports wild rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout averaging 8–16 inches, with holdovers into the high teens.

Three distinct sections exist:

Weber Canyon: Mountain headwaters fishable by fly on dries, nymphs, and streamers in pocket water.

Ogden Reach: Tailrace-influenced reach offering bank and boat access to a mix of wild and stocked trout.

Lower River: Warmwater tailwaters near the lake with trout and non-trout species like bass.

Pineview and Echo Reservoir regulate flows, maintaining consistency year-round, with spring and fall being peak seasons. Anglers employ midges, caddis, and mayflies, or spin tactics like spoons and spinners. Drift boats are common; public access includes city parks and boat ramps.

Catch-and-release upstream, with downstream keeper sections. Diverse water types and easy access make the Weber River a staple for Northern Utah anglers seeking varied trout terrain from canyon streams to urban tailwaters.
