The Zihuatanejo area is finally coming alive with terrific inshore and offshore action that seemed to start with the waning full moon phase. Starting late last week, according to Captain Temo Verboonen, skipper of the "Secuestro De Amor", the sailfish were moving long distances in a single day, showing really well for just a day and then completely moving to another area by the next day. Little by little, the bite was taking off and a few marlin were starting to show up. Captain Adolfo, "Dos Hermanos, reported 1 sailfish for 8 sails raised on the fly and Captain Temo reported 2 blue marlin, (one over 400 lbs.) 13 sailfish releases and "Marfel" reported 15 raises and 4 sails on the fly for 6 days fishing. Inshore, the Jacke Cravelle and Sierra are plentiful, along with many bonito. By mid week, the blue water just kept getting closer and closer and the captains were reporting 6-9 sailfish strikes per day, in conjunction with a few dorado and marlin. Captain Temo reported superb flyfishing with angler Theodore Krishisky from Washington State, that produced 54 sailfish raised with 33 casts for presentation, 15 sails missed, 2 broken off, 7 landed and release and 4 marlin. In short, the opportunities were everywhere for the anglers and for the first time in awhile, Temo sounded excited about the report.

IZ Climate: Mostly sunny and warm, temps from 68 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Still pretty flat calm with some light westerly tropical breezes, temps at 81 inshore and 83 offshore.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 5 miles offshore

Best lure/bait: Teasers in the pink & purple working very well for raising the sailfish. Megabaits working well inshore. Rigged trolling baits are hot for the sails, too.
