The marlin madness continues right into the New Year, with people pleasing catches for all. Adding to the billfish bonanza was a continued good bite on the dorado and a fair catch of yellowfin tuna. Captain Juan Dominguez, skipper of the "Gaviota VIII", is again the leading skipper, reporting 20 stripers for 5 fishing days along with 5 dorado and 3 yellowfin tuna. Overall combined catches for 68 fishing days reflected 121 stripers (111 released) 106 dorado and 57 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 59 nights to 82 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Remain favorable with good temps, ranging from 75-76 at the Golden Gate and slowly rising to 78 from Cabo San Lucas to the Gorda Banks.

Best Fishing Area: Continues to be at the Golden Gate Bank on the Pacific side of Cabo.

Best lure/Bait: Live bait is the hot ticket for the billfish and mackerel are better than caballitos. The dorado have been active on both baits.

Live Bait Supply: Very good for the caballitos at $3.00 per bait, but live mackerel are readily available at the Golden Gate Bank, too.
