South Lake received another big load of fish this week and the fishing has been excellent for most, wide open for some. The big fish made a showing this week too with 11 Alpers being caught, the biggest going 6lbs. The majority of the big fish were caught on tube jigs and powerworms but the 1/6oz Red/Gold Thomas Bouyant wasn't far behind. Jig color varied to some degree but the Lip Ripperz jigs in Orange/Chartruese and Grass Hopper Trout Traps were the best. Bubble Gum Powerworms were the hot color for the powerworms. Best baits are crawlers fished under a bobber or Salmon Peach PB off the bottom with a 3 foot leader. There are a lot of fish stacked up at the Rock Slide, the West Shore and the Dam. Now that the back of the lake has some depth, fish are concentrating at the inlets in a big way - especially the Long Lake Inlet. A few fish are cruising Boiler Cove but its been a bit slow over there. Trolling has been productive this week - needlefish at 3 colors or Olive Wooly Buggers on top have been the top lures.
