According to Captain Temo Verboonen, the year end fish report was nothing short of excellent, albeit, a little farther offshore during the early part of the week and progressing closer each day until getting back into the 8-mile zone. Temo said the sailfish and dorado action at 20 miles was excellent for most of the boats and there were even a few blue marlin in the mix of bites. Then, the fish came closer in to offer the short run, year-end banner fishing that gets the anglers really excited. The sailfish bit very well and the dorado, all in the quality sizes, (20-35 lbs.) provided super action for the anglers. Then, the inshore action picked up, too, with a terrific mix of bonito, dorados, sierras and jack crevalle that have now popped up north of Ixtapa in the area called "Rancho". Overall, it was one of those banner fishing weeks when you wished you had more fishing days.

IZ Climate: Very nice weather. Temps ranged from a comfortable 67 nights to 89 daytime highs and a 60% humidity level. It was mostly a sunny and warm week with a few minor passing clouds.

Sea Conditions: Excellent sea conditions for inshore and offshore. Surface breezes were tropical and flowing from the westerly directions that ranged from nearly calm to about 10 mph. Sea Temps were on the rise and ranged from 83 to 84 degrees.

Best Fishing Areas: Started out at about 20 miles and then came back inshore to the 8-mile mark.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits were working very well for both, billfish and dorado. Dorado were also inclined to snap at the artificials, too.

ait Supply: Excellent bait supply that provided both, fresh baits for rigging and live bait at $5.00 per dozen.
