OK, I think we are finally back on track for the Puerto Morelos area and we look forward to again getting the weekly fish reports from there. This past week reflected 11 days fished that produced 1 sailfish, 15 dorado, 18 mutton snapper, 2 red snapper, 2 king mackerel, 1 grouper and 3 barracuda. According to the new General Manager, Armando Gutierrez, the fishing is getting better and better, each day. One of the most notable elements for the Puerto Morelos area is the proximity of the fishing, which is usually started at about a mile in front of the entrance to the Marina, as the water drops off sharply and the fish tend to bank against the drop off.

Puerto Morelos Climate: Mostly cloudy and warm, with temps from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Prevailing easterly winds dominate the region with surface wind chop, temps at 80 throughout the area.

Best Lure/Bait: Skirted ballyhoo continue to be the favorite for most of the fish in this area.
