Another great week of fishing action from Mazatlan, albeit, the numbers of anglers continues to be quite low for this time of year. The offshore action continues with most of the boats averaging 3-5 trophy size dorado for their efforts, along with an occasional opportunity at a billfish or mako shark. The inshore super pangas are on fire with the dorado catches, returning with easy limit fishing and many releases. The overall counts for the offshore sportfishers reporting in for a total of 13 days fished reflected 1 stiper, 3 sailfish, 3 mako shark, 1 bonito and 44 dorado, (to 57 lbs.). The super pangs, reporting in for only 4 days fished reflected limits of dorado and numerous releases, 3 pargo and 14 mojarres.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy, temps from 73 nights to 90 daytime highs, on the humid side and easy to sunburn conditions.

Sea Conditions: Water temps are warm, at 87 throughout most of the area, with good clarity at about 12-14 miles offshore, little swell and light tropical surface breezes.

Best Fishing Area: The current lines are still best for dorado production, especially for the bigger dorado. The buoys are holding massive numbers of smaller dorado, up to about 15 lbs. and you can catch and release all you want.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged mullet for the billfish still best. The dorado are still biting well on the ballyhoo for the bigger fish. Almost anything is working at the buoys and I would think that catching dorado on banana peelings would probably work well.
