March was another extremely busy and productive month for the Golden Gate Fishermen’s Association.
Our members stayed engaged all month long, attending public comment sessions and key meetings. GGFA had a strong turnout at the Pacific Fishery Management Council public hearing, where many of our members stood up and advocated for our salmon fishery and the communities that depend on it.
On March 20th, GGFA President Michael Rescino and his family visited the Tehama-Colusa Canal to check in on the salmon smolts. They reported back with great news—the fish are thriving and on track for release. Shortly after, GGFA board members were on hand for the release of those smolts, which had been raised in the net pens before being trucked down and released at the Marin Rod and Gun Club.
In addition, President Michael Rescino attended Vice Admiral Joe Buzzella’s U.S. Coast Guard assumption of command ceremony, representing GGFA and continuing to strengthen relationships across agencies.
We wrapped up the month with our annual crab feed fundraiser, and to say it was a success would be an understatement. It was incredible to see such strong support from our community. The energy, turnout, and generosity made for an unforgettable evening.
