April was another extremely busy and productive month for the Golden Gate Fishermen’s Association.
President Michael Rescino attended a multitude of important meetings throughout the month, continuing to represent our fleet and advocate for the issues that matter most to our members and coastal communities. GGFA members also showed up in strong numbers at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission regional meeting on April 21st in San Mateo, where they made their voices heard.
Our members did an outstanding job speaking out against the proposed expansion of the MPA at Duxbury Reef. While this effort was impactful, the fight is far from over. Additional meetings are on the horizon, and GGFA remains committed to maintaining a strong presence and continuing to advocate for fair access and the future of our fisheries.
On a more positive note, early April brought some extremely exciting news regarding salmon. The entire state will once again have the opportunity to fish for salmon this year, with significantly more opportunity than we saw last season. This announcement has brought a renewed sense of optimism, and our fleet is gearing up in anticipation of what we hope will be a productive and successful year on the water.
Be sure to check our website for a full list of GGFA member boats and book your trips soon—dates are filling quickly.
