THE PUERTO MORELOS FISHING REPORT FOR THE MARINA EL CID SPORTFISHING FLEET, (CANCUN TO COZUMEL AREA)


According to our on-the-spot reporter for the Puerto Morelos area, Ms. Jessica Ortega, the fishing picked up this past week and the weather was much improved with no port closure days for the week. The overall fish counts for a total of 54 days fished reflected an 18 fish variety that reflected 1 sailfish, 32 dorado, 2 Spanish mackerel, 44 Bonito, 1 king mackerel, 4 giant barracuda, 2 blackfin tuna, 20 triggerfish, 51 chac-chi. 19 banana fish, 47 snappers, 3 cabrilla, (released) 21 rubias, 16 cuchas, 8 needle fish, 11 grouper, 25 cochinas and 26 soap fish.


PM Climate: Air temps ranged from 70 nights to 84 daytime highs and a 66% humidity level. It's been a partly cloudy week with a few days of intermittent sunshine but overall, very good weather for the folks coming in from the cold, snowy parts of the world.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps ranged from 79-80 degrees throughout the area and remained stable. Tropical surface breezes flowing mostly from the easterly directions with a 9-10 mph daily average.

Best Bait: Continues to be the enormous surplus of the ballyhoo baits in this area that are provided freshly caught on a daily basis.
