THE CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING REPORT FOR THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND FISH CABO FLEET The full moon had a serious role in the fishing-catching in Cabo San Lucas this past week as the billfish counts fell off sharply from where they have been. The high billfish boat for the week was the "Gaviota X", reporting in with 2 billfish released for 2 days fishing, along with a pair of dorado and a pair of skipjack. The overall fish counts for a total of 23 days fished reflected 8 stripers released, 5 wahoo, 6 skipjack and 52 dorado. The dorado were mostly of the quality sizes in the above 20 lb. ranges. The overall fishing was spread over a wide Pacific side area that ranged from the Herradura to Pozo de Cota.

Cabo Climate: A mostly sunny week with warm days and a few passing clouds, along with temps that ranged from 58 nights to 85 daytime highs and a 65% humidity level.

Sea Conditions: The surface breezes were mostly flowing in from the westerly directions and ranged from nearly calm to about 10-11 mph. The Pacific side, from the Golden Gate Bak south, across the Jaime Bank and the 1000 fathom curve and inward to Cabo Falso to the East, all at 75-75 degrees. Cabo San Lucas and easterly toward the Gorda Banks, including the 9f & 1150 fathom spots and the Cabrillo Seamount, all at 76-77 degrees. Las Frailes remained cooler at 72-73 degrees.

Best Fishing Area: No specific area was reported with a billfish caught in almost all of the Pacific side hot-spot locations and the dorado were equally scattered about, too.

Best Lure/Bait: A toss-up between the rigged baits and artificials.

Live Bait Supply: Remained plentiful even in the full moon for caballitos at th $3.00 per bait rate.
