THE MAZATLAN FISHING REPORT FOR THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET, (MARINA EL CID, PACIFIC)

The full moon had a dramatic effect on the offshore fishing from Mazatlan this past week and for the most part, the fish were in a "lock-jaw" syndrome and uninterested in our offerings. It was a difficult fishing week for the offshore anglers and the counts reflected 2 sailfish, 1 striped marlin and 2 dorado for their 9 days fished. On the flip side, the inshore super pangas were doing exceptionally well with the bottom fish and reported limits of snappers, 1 corvina, 1 dorado, 24 rock perch, 2 permit, 2 triggerfish, 2 jack crevalle and 29 Sierra for a total of 8 days fished.

Mazatlan Climate: A mostly sunny and warm week with coolish mornings and evenings with a few passing clouds covering the bright, full moon. Air temps ranged from 54 nights to 83 daytime highs and 68% humidity levels.

Sea Conditions: Sea temperatures stable at 78-79, both inshore and offshore with very light swells that were flowing from the westerly directions. Surface breezes same as the swell, calm to 8 mph, also from the westerly directions.

Best Bait/Lure: The billfish and the dorado were taken on rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Remained very good through the full moon condition. Live bait was $1.00 per bait and freshly caught dead baits for rigging were provided as part of the charter.
