THE CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING REPORT FOR THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND FISH CABO FLEET

Where did they go? The fishing this past week fell flat on it's face for the Cabo sportfishing fleets and resulted in fewer charters and anglers going out. It really has become that time of year when the area typically goes into the winter slump for catching of billfish and dorado and that seems like right where things are, today. While billfish are still being seen over widespread areas, they are not being cooperative and biting the presentations, either live baits or artificials. Seems like the fish got into the ignore everything mode and we are waiting for the change. The overall fishing report for the past week reflected 12 days fished that produced 2 stripers, 8 dorado, 1 yellowfin tuna and 1 skipjack. Unfortunately, there were a fair number of zero catch fishing days and I guess that just goes with the business of sportfishing.

Cabo Climate: A mostly sunny week with warm days and cool evenings and a few passing clouds. Air temps varied from 59 nights to 83 daytime highs and a 55% humidity level.

Sea Conditions: Surface breezes were primarily flowing in from the westerly directions and ranged from near calm to about 16 mph. The Pacific side, from the shore to about 10 miles off, reflected 73 degree water temps, rising to 74-75 at the temp break and farther offshore. Cabo San Lucas to Los Frailes and out about 10 miles, all at 74 degrees, rising to 75 at the temp break.

Best Fishing Area: None reported in any direction.

Best Lure/Bait: None reported due to the slow fishing results.

Live Bait Supply: Remained plentiful at $3.00 per bait rate.
